Voice
Child & Teen
Children and teens may experience difficulties with their voices due a variety of conditions such as vocal nodules, strain and general misuse. Awareness activities, games and parent training are used to make functional changes and support healthy vocal habits.
Paradoxical Vocal Fold/Vocal Cord Dysfunction (PVFD/VCD) is a condition that teen athletes may experience and is commonly mistaken for exercise-induced asthma. While the quality of the voice is not always affected, individuals may feel like they cannot breathe during strenous exercise. In collaboration with ENTs (otolaryngologists) and respirologists, education, strategy training (individualized to apply to general and in-sport situations) and other evidence-based tools are used to correct this pattern.
