About Literacy and Language Services

Language is how we learn about and navigate our world. If you or your child have challenges with literacy and language, it can make it difficult to learn successfully at school, manage everyday language tasks such as paying bills and texting friends, sustain social relationships and achieve success at work.

Language learning disorders include a variety of challenges in spoken expression, understanding and information processing, reading and writing. Some conditions included in this group are dyslexia, dysgraphia and other literacy-based difficulties. While these conditions are often identified in childhood, they can also continue into adulthood.

At Beyond Words, we believe that effective literacy and language therapy must support your current abilities in everyday activities and improve those abilities, where possible, for the future. We see you in your own home, either in person or virtually (Zoom), to deliver an individualized therapy approach that uses your strengths to support and develop your needs. We are trained in Structured Literacy, Structured Word Inquiry and other evidence-based approaches. We also have extensive experience with assistive technology such as Read & Write and teach students and adults how to use this technology to reduce frustration and allow them to more fully participate at home, school/work and in the community.
